How This Card Is Derived
Papus gives no separate description of this card. It is derived from his system: Wands is Yod (י), the active, originating principle, acting in Atziluth, the archetypal world; the Page is He final, the realizing term embodied — the suit brought down into fact. The meaning below is that combination read out, not a quotation from him.
Upright
The realizing term as a person: will brought down into fact. The Page of Wands is the errand — the message carried because somebody had to carry it, the first move made on an idea that has not been examined. Papus's fourth term makes things actual, and in the active suit it makes them actual immediately and without preparation. Enthusiasm doing a job, which is more useful than either half alone.
Reversed
The errand not run, so the impulse never touches the world. Or announcement mistaken for action — the message about the venture delivered with great energy, and nothing else done.

In a Spread
At the commencement, the matter begins with a first move by someone junior to it. In opposition, unproven eagerness, which is harder to argue with than a case. At equilibrium the Page is what keeps the thing moving. As the result: a beginning is actually made.
